Grammy-Nominated, Award-Winning Jazz Vocalist Maysa Joins the Fight Against Heart Disease as the Open My Heart Foundation’s Brand Ambassador
HANOVER, MD — The Open My Heart Foundation (OMHF), one of the only patient-led heart organizations solely dedicated to eliminating heart health disparities among African American women and women of color, proudly announces that American jazz soul singer and songwriter Maysa has joined as its official Brand Ambassador.
Maysa’s journey with health is deeply personal. She lost her father at just 56 years old to complications from a stroke and heart attack. She has been on her own transformative journey, reversing her diabetes and committing to daily exercise as part of a spiritual and personal promise. Maysa states:
“The reason why I said yes to being the Brand Ambassador for the Open My Heart Foundation is because I want to help in any way I can, to bring awareness about heart screenings and how important they are… My father’s passing fuels my passion to help others prevent this from happening in their lives.”
Maysa’s advocacy aligns with OMHF’s groundbreaking work. Maysa joined after learning of OMHF’s efforts and the successful passage of House Bill 666 (HB666) and Senate Bill 60 (SB60), which now require insurance coverage for cardiac screenings, such as calcium score testing. It is a life-saving tool for early detection of heart disease, benefiting nearly 6 million Marylanders. Heart disease remains the nation’s leading cause of death.
